SUMMARY:Conference: Museums as Social Institutions – Trust and Communities
DESCRIPTION:3rd International Conference of the Leibniz Centre of Excellence for Museum Education\nNovember 30-December 1\, 2023\, at LEIZA in Mainz\, Germany (hybrid event). \nMuseum practitioners and educational researchers from all over the world are invited to discuss two current topics in the museum world: \n\nThe perception of museums and trust in museums as a source of information.\nHow to build relationships with diverse local communities and engage them in museum work to make museums more relevant to the broader public.\n\nThe sessions are designed to be exchange-oriented\, with a brief theoretical and practical introduction in the form of a keynote and several short presentations followed by an opportunity to exchange ideas in a plenary discussion. During a World Café on the second day of the conference\, participants will be able to exchange perspectives and experiences\, develop common goals and perhaps already initial ideas for solutions to the conference topics. For those who cannot come to Germany\, the keynote and short presentations will be made available in a digital version of our conference.

SUMMARY:13th International CoMuseum Conference: Museums and Justice
DESCRIPTION:The 13th CoMuseum International Conference entitled Museums and Justice is around the corner! This year’s Conference is about justice and representation: being fair within and through museums and cultural organizations. We will discuss the degree to which DEIA (Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion\, Accessibility) principles are being considered or applied internally in cultural organizations in terms of employment\, governance\,  and programming\, and how in turn this process\, or lack of\, affects cultural action around the world. \nThe 13th CoMuseum International Conference will take place on December 6 at the Benaki Museum/Pireos 138 in Athens\, at 12:00 – 18:00. On December 7\, the workshops/masterclasses will be held at the Benaki Museum/Pireos 138 in Athens\, at 10:00 – 15:00. \nOn December 8\, the CoMuseum Thessaloniki edition will take place at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (Megaron)\, at the Emilios Riadis Hall\, from 11.30 – 15.00. The Thessaloniki program will feature a Plenary session\, as well as masterclasses for museum and cultural professionals and civil society groups from 15.00 – 16.30. Pre-registration is required for both options. \nUseful Information \n\nPart of the Conference will be live-streamed.\nThe Conference is an admission free event with RSVP. Registration for reservations is required.\nMasterclasses are available ONLY on-site and not via Live-streaming.\nThe languages ​​of the Conference will be Greek\, English and Greek Sign Language with simultaneous interpretation.\nCertificates of attendance will be provided only for on-site participants.
