The first Interpret Europe Conference explored best practice and methodology in interpretation for diverse target groups. 62 participants from 22 countries joined this event.
Europe is a continent of breathtaking diversity: from soaring mountains to rolling seas, from permanent ice to parched landscapes, from local beauty spots to great wild areas.
A long and eventful history has shaped Europe’s peoples, their built heritage, their arts and their intangible culture over thousands of years. The people of Europe speak many different languages and their national and regional characteristics are vibrant and fascinating.
This diversity is a great challenge to interpreters but, more importantly, it presents a host of opportunities. Freiburg in Germany, close to France and Switzerland, was an ideal location to deal with this subject.
