Certified members can capitalise on their interpretive skills for the benefit of others in organisations and professional networks by becoming IE trainers and teach their own IE courses. Participants need to successfully complete:

  • the 40-hour course they would like to teach (CIG, CIG, CIP)
  • the 16-hour Certified Interpretive Trainer (CIT) course
  • a specific 8-hour trainer upgrade for the course they intend teaching

Certified Interpretive Trainer (CIT)

This two-day course gives participants the essentials to practice what they want to teach by preparing, running and collecting feedback to appraise an IE course. They’ll get familiar with teaching theory, practical exercises and learning approaches to run their very own certified IE training course. Participants learn how to plan, perform and assess training sessions, apply quality standards and tackle crises, as well as how to organise their course with local partners and promote it to potential participants.

Trainer upgrades

MIH, CIG, CIP and CIW trainer upgrade courses provide specific practical and technical guidance to deliver all the necessary modules and exercises. They help organise learning programmes, validate the skills acquired by trainees and maintain high standards as a fully-fledged, competent IE trainer. The one-day trainer upgrade courses are the last step before participants can run their own IE training course as IE certified trainers. Each course supplements the knowledge and skills acquired from the CIT course and focuses on one of the 40-hour courses that participants must have previously successfully passed (CIG, CIP, CIW). To teach the CIH course, trainers need to first complete one of these four courses.
