‘European heritage and ‘heritage tourism’ – Tasks and challenges’ will be the title of the accredited international further education course organised by the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS in June 2018.

The theme of our annual summer course is different each year and always reflects current days. This year we are going to join the European Union campaign about cultural heritage. ‘Heritage tourism’ is an important economic and employment factor besides the cultural meanings we have in European, regional and local characteristics. It can strengthen the local identity, but needs well educated co-operating professionals. The programme of the summer university course will provide theory-based information and practical advice for the participants.

We especially invite applications from professionals who are concerned with, or those who would like to be specialised in, the field of restoration.
The summer course has been named in honour of the founder, András Román, in 2005 (and has replaced the previous name, ‘Eger Summer University Course on Monument Protection’). The summer courses have been offered for almost five decades and we continue the tested tradition of changing the theme each year. The current themes are always worked out by excellent local and foreign lecturers with the active contribution of participants.
The official languages of the course are Hungarian and English. We will provide simultaneous translation during the whole length of the course.
