Future interpretive planners at World Heritage Sites in Europe are sharpening their skills in Slovenian capital on the UNESCO’s training. Their playground is the work of the renowned architect Jože Plečnik, recently inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage list. For example, the report states that deep learning is better facilitated by ‘object based learning’, i.e., first-hand experience and that the tasks should have personal relevance. Last Sunday, representatives of 19 World Heritage Sites from 14 European countries met in Ljubljana for an intense UNESCO Regional Course on Interpretive Planning at World Heritage properties in Europe. For the whole week they learned about the planning methodology through hands-on activities and theory on the architectural works of Jože Plečnik in Ljubljana city centre, which was recently enlisted on the WH list. Participants were greeted by the Minister for Culture Dr Asta Vrečko, IE Managing Director Helena Vičič, Matteo Rosati from UNESCO Office in Venice, National Commission for UNSECO Secretary General Gašper Hrastelj, and Blaž Peršin director of the Ljubljana City Museum/Mestni muzej Ljubljana that hosted the event.📷 T.
